Build Perfect Sandwiches and Snack Platters: Chicken Club Croissants & Chips.

HOW TO: Build sandwiches and snack platters the right way!

A good sandwich has always been my love language. I have memories of going out to restaurants with my family when I was younger and the first category that I would set my eyes upon when reading the menu were the sandwiches/wraps/ and burgers section. I actually still do that often to this day as a habit, even if I’m not in the market to order a handheld bite. I’ll definitely set my sites on them, no matter what. I just need to see all of the options! I’m going to teach you how to do many things this year; like how to be the perfect host, how to make the coolest charcuterie boards, how to build the most beautiful bars, how to make amazing appetizers, and so much more. Most importantly though, I am going to be concocting a series here on the blog starting now: showing all of you Diamonds how you’re suppose to build sandwiches and snack platters the proper way!

Let’s build the best chicken club croissants you’ll ever have:

  • Start with a big buttery croissants. My advice is to get them fresh at a bakery or at your local cafe so that they’re the best they can be, to build the best sandwich you can possibly build!
  • Spread on your favorite spreads. To get the best results, I advise you to pick two. Not just one. Mayo and mustard. Pesto and aioli. Barbecue sauce and ranch. Buffalo sauce and blue cheese. You catch my drift, Diamonds! It’s all about the flavor combinations. You can still keep it simple while creating the most unique sandwiches known to man. In this croissant club that I created, I layered on mayonnaise and homemade ranch. I know, it might seem like a bit much having them both be creamy condiments. However, they give off two different textures and flavors. I chose mayo due to the fact that I personally cannot conduct a club sandwich without it. It is the biggest necessity for me. I then chose to whip up an herbed basil ranch dressing, since I thought it would go impeccably with the chicken and all the cold toppings that a club gets adorned with.
  • Lay on some shredded cold iceberg lettuce. Yes, it HAS to be iceberg and it has to be cold. We need that cold crunch. Even if you don’t love iceberg, you need it on a club. It’s a non negotiable!
  • Pile on pieces of rotisserie chicken. Don’t spend time cooking your own for this recipe. Rotisserie is perfect and packed with flavor, so wasting your time making the chicken to cut into slices to fit the size of a croissant is just not at all worth it to me. I am a girl to always say homemade everything is best, BUT when it comes to chicken I will almost always choose a rotisserie.
  • Thin slices of salt and peppered tomatoes go on top of the chicken. They must be seasoned.
  • Perfectly cooked slices of bacon.
  • Traditionally, clubs don’t have cheese on them, but mine do because we all know I’m not really a traditionalist. The cheese that compliments these chicken clubs was a bacon ranch cheddar cheese. It has a really unique ranch dressing taste to it. You can purchase it at your local deli.
  • Nice ripe slices of fresh avocado that are drizzled with olive oil and seasoned again with sea salt and pepper.
  • Put the top on and you’ve got yourself the very best built chicken croissant club sandwich ever.

These are perfect to make when you’re hosting any sort of brunch, a bridal or baby shower, a bistro themed birthday party, a high tea you’re throwing with all of your glamorous girlfriends, or a poolside lunch in the middle of a sweet summers day. A sandwich and snacks are good for any theme, any event, any day, and any time. It will never disappoint, especially not wrapped up in a buttery croissant!

And speaking of snacks:

Snack platters are a sensational center piece, especially at a party!

The key to any platter is the placement. The placement of the items on the platter, plate, board, or bowl is quite up to your hearts desire. However, I”m talking about the place of the platter itself. Where you sit the snacks are important. If the party or guests move around throughout the day/night, it is important to maneuver the snacks wherever they go as well. The platter is great to graze on before the meal while everyone sips on beverages and cocktails, during the meal to obviously go with the sandwiches and spread you have presented, and after the meal while loved ones mingle for hours before departing.

What snacks do I have piled on my platter?!

  • Sour cream and onion Ruffles.
  • Honey barbecue potato chips.
  • Classic salted potato chips.
  • Pickled sliced red beets.
  • Bread and butter pickles.
  • Garlic dill pickles.
  • Green pimento stuffed olives.

The classic sides for a stunning sandwich spread!

Let’s take one more look at this stunning sandwich!

This is one recipe that I hope every single one of you Diamonds recreate! It seems like it’s a simple sandwich, but it’s so elevated in every single way! You rarely find sandwiches on croissants at restaurants, unless you’re visiting a big time brunch spot in the city. I also made a homemade ranch and paired the perfect cheese to go along with the ranch and bacon theme of the croissant. The avocado was at its peak and the bacon was cooked to perfection. The way everything was carefully curated and seasoned, it truly cannot be beat. This chicken club on a croissant is one you won’t want to miss out on, especially if you are a die hard sandwich lover such as myself!
