We are vastly approaching Thanksgiving week which means menu making, planning, prepping, preparing, and all of the shopping has started to begin! For some, those steps are already done, or we are smack in the middle of them. As for me, the completed menu and grocery store runs have been checked off the list yesterday afternoon. While in the process of being sure that I had my own appetizers in order, I wanted to share an amazing one with all of you, Diamonds.
Get prepared to serve this savory apple pie flatbread on your Thanksgiving table!

Let’s talk about the building process! It is much simpler than it sounds and looks!
- Start with some naan flatbreads.
- Drizzle some olive oil over the crust and season with sea salt, freshly cracked black pepper, and onion powder.
- Spread apple pie jam all over after seasoning. Now, I purchased the jam from an apple festival that I attended earlier in this season, so if you can not specifically find apple pie flavored jelly or jam, you can just buy pure apple or even apple cinnamon. It will definitely give this dish the same flavor profile that we are searching for.
- Layer thin slices of brie cheese right on top of the jam.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the brie.
- Thinly sliced farm fresh apples to spread out all across the two different types of cheeses. The apple choice is up to what you have on hand, or if you’re someone who prefers tart to sweet, or sweet to tart. I layered the sliced apples in threes and spread them out in sections to resemble a fan shape. This makes for a stunning presentation.
- I caramelized onions and ham off the bone together in a pad of butter, sea salt, lemon pepper and brown sugar until everything was soft and golden. One onion and 1/4 pound of ham takes about 15 minutes to caramelize properly.
- Lastly, I placed on pieces of pimento peppers over both flatbreads.
Set the oven to 425 degrees and bake the flatbreads for 20 minutes!
The setting and time spent in the oven is perfect every single time no matter what you have your flatbreads piled with!
Garnish with fresh parsley, scallions, and a drizzle of hot honey:
Even though this flatbread needs no more than a few garnishes, I am quite a sauce girl! I will dip and dollop until the cows come home, so I thought.. what better sides to incorporate than more hot honey and some chunky blue cheese for your guests to help themselves to? You might be questioning me when I mentioned the blue cheese. Your thinking.. Bri, I know damn well that blue cheese doesn’t go with apple pie. I can confirm that you are probably right. However, with this savory apple pie flatbread, it most certainly does! You get this insanely sweet and savory combination with the fresh bite of those apples and peppers, then finally you take a dip into that tangy, creamy blue cheese! I mean, it’s everything you could want and more. As you Diamonds already know, I’m all about my flavors and textures, so this bite right here really takes the cake! If you absolutely hate blue cheese, or you’re not interested in trusting my judgement at all, then your experience with this flatbread will be perfect without any dip at all. Although, if you are a saucy girl such as myself, you can find that stunning spreadable brie in the fancy cheese section of your grocery to spread on each lovely bite.
