Christmas Tree Cake Truffles!

I am so excited because the holiday season has arrived and I’m getting creative in the kitchen! Being inventive in the kitchen isn’t new for me, although it is more fun to get involved and try new recipes during the most festive time of the year. This is the month where I like to experiment with holiday snacks and treats in all of my desserts to really make baking and candy making super exciting! I have noticed that people have been getting quite ingenious with the Christmas tree cakes that have been around since the 1980’s. My favorite decade, Diamonds! Even though I wasn’t walking the earth yet, I am definitely am 80’s girl at heart. I have been seeing all different dips and cakes made from these sweet cakes, so I wanted to give another spin to them! I love making various truffle combinations since they’re always decadent and delicious, along with being insanely easy to make. You can crumble up your favorite cookies, cupcakes, or candy to mix in with cool cream cheese and boom! You have amazing truffles every single time!! Normally, you’d imagine these Christmas truffles being covered in white chocolate, but I wanted to counteract the sweetness and it worked absolutely perfectly in my opinion. Sometimes when something is too sweet it isn’t as enjoyable as it would have been if other flavors were mixed in to get a much more balanced bite!

To make these truffles you have to of course have the Christmas tree cakes on hand! It’s the secret ingredient that isn’t a secret. 😉

  • Crumble an entire box of Christmas tree cakes in a mixing bowl.
  • Add a whole block of cream cheese along with red and green sugar sprinkles. You can use regular sprinkles, but I wanted to keep with the theme of the cakes.

This makes the most terrific truffle filling!

Mix until you have a cookie dough consistency.

Roll into truffle sized balls!

  • They should be small enough for you to pop them in your mouth to enjoy the entire thing at once, but big enough to have in just a few bites if you like to taste your sweets slowly!

Roll each truffle in melted dark chocolate and garnish with a crumble of the Christmas tree cakes.

This is the sweet treat that everyone wants and is craving during the Christmas season! If you show up to a party with these babies, you’ll win the award for best dessert of the night! I promise you. The combination of the sweet sugary center mixed with the tang of the cream cheese and the bitterness from the dark chocolate is truly pure magic.
